About the reader
Short Japanese reading, built for a daily habit
JAPAN Daily Reader is an independent learning service for people who want to read natural Japanese without jumping straight into long native news. It combines original short readings about life and change in Japan with optional reading support, vocabulary, and comprehension checks.
The service is designed around a daily publication schedule. Eligible readings are selected from approved stock; a candidate that does not pass the required checks is held back instead of being published simply to fill a slot.
How a learning session works
Open help when needed
Furigana, romaji, paragraph translations, and tappable word cards are available as support while the Japanese text remains central.
Keep useful vocabulary
Save words with their reading, meaning, example, and source article so that the words stay connected to the scene where you met them.
Check and review
Use the article quiz to check comprehension, then return to saved words for a short review session.
How readings are prepared
Automated assistance may be used during research, drafting, localization, and validation. Publication is governed by the workflow below; we do not copy source articles or present these learning texts as original news reporting.
- Recent topics are reviewed first so that new readings do not repeat the same learner experience.
- A concrete learner question is chosen, and the Japanese title and body are drafted before translations, vocabulary, quizzes, or SEO text.
- The natural JLPT level is classified from the Japanese body. Any level adjustment must keep the Japanese natural.
- The Japanese body is checked for naturalness and then locked. Translations and learning support are produced from that locked body.
- Validation checks cover body and translation alignment, vocabulary and quiz consistency, duplicate risk, publication status, and copyright-safety fields. A candidate that does not pass is held back.

JAPAN Daily Reader is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Japan Foundation, Japan Educational Exchanges and Services, or the JLPT. JLPT labels are used only as practical reading-level guidance.
